perspective to mayan ball's game field
Most of the prehispanic cultures, and specially mayan, had the ball's game field, it was a worship game, some of them related to fertility and others to wars, they usually played with their hips, and unfortunately there were sacrifices of one of the teams to their gods. This pictures are from Copán in Honduras, the second main mayan ceremonial center.

I wonder the age of the ball field? The loser gets sacrificed? Yikes.

Very interesting photos; and I'd not heard the story about the post game sacrifices. Gives a new meaning to giving it your all.
Thanks a lot for your comments!! :D Answering a question: This mayan place is from VI to VIII century. It's really big with 24 km2 and still they have plenty to work, there still are 4500 montículos (structures under ground) that they need to work on... it feels great to be there, i think it has something special and magnificent in it... i think i will add some more posts of this place!! :D
Thanks vathsan for visiting my blog and your comments!! it's a great pleasure for me!!! welcome!! :D

i've been to egypt. there're also nice ancient buildings. egypt is dried. that's why buildings could survive. it's wonderful that such place is remained so nice after so many strong rains.
Very nice shots, Lore. I especially like the first and third shots. Great compositions.
Nothing like an incentive to win! And we think our hockey games are cutthroat. Great and interesting and informative pictures. What a winning combination.
Nice idea with this site its better than most of the rubbish I come across.
