sunset :)

This photo was not taken for me, but as i really love sunrise and sunsets, i'm posting it here, i have this photo as background of my pc, i feel happy every time i turn on my computer!! :) I think this kind of colourful sunrises or sunsets (in this case) brings to your mind memories or good ideas, and you have such a nice feeling that you feel happy!! don't you think so? :D Well... i'll post next time at the end of this week i guess, cause i'm on exams week... but i'll try to do it as sooner as i can!! this is not a Tarántula as you can see, but is pretty big spider, this kind of spider usually is on wild areas, tropical forest... and hey!! why not? it can be even in your garden!!!! ;D i'm not kidding, my grandma has one at her garden!!!

ceiba's prehispanic meaning

This tree's name is Ceiba, it is a really tall tree.... on prehispanic times the ceiba had a important meaning, the natives thought that ceiba was the connection between the sky, the earth and the underworld also represents the 4 cardinal points. So they represented it on their ceramics and on incense burners as the one you can see on the photo.

during your life you will find gates and windows to different things.... some of them goods, some of them bad things.... but windows are opportunities or blessings, you need to find those kind of windows, wide open windows!! :)

the history of wheel....

who says that the prehispanic people didn't know the wheel?... well, this piece with other similars, were found at an archaeological site named Cihuatán,This site is from the postclassic period (900 a.C. - 1500 a.C) that begins with the migrations of nahuas culture from the mexican altiplano after the great mayan collapse, Cihuatán is from 900 to 1100 a.C.
The archaeologists says that this figures were used for children, in common life, the wheel was not used as we a tool to take us to everywhere... no no no, it was used just to play and at this kind of representations.

This is the view from the road to the Chichontepec volcano... El Salvador has 23 volcanos and 5 volcanic camps, actually the 90% of the territory is made with volcanic materials!!

Corinto's wallpaintings

Well, these are the wallpaintings from an archaeological site named Gruta del Espíritu Santo, It's on Corinto, Morazán Is the oldiest place that archaeologist have found in my country with wall paintings (pintura rupestre) and stone engravings (grabados en piedra) that have about 7000 years old. The culture that made them where nomads and the shaman (this person was related to cosmos and herbs) made the pictures!!!
We went to three caves: La Gruta del Espíritu Santo, the elf's cave (Cueva del duende) and the bull's cave (cueva del toro)!!

The pictures you can find here are antropomorphs with decorations on their heads, like making some ritual or worship, some flowers, symbols of fertility and birds. Nowadays you can't see most of the pictures cause there's a lot of cal, and the time made some damages! The pictures were made with natural pigments as cochinilla an insect that gives red color.

elf's cave

Go on trips to visit archaeological sites and enjoy nature is really great and wonderful thing to do, in my opinion, when i went to the oldest place founded in my country, with wallpaintings and engravings named Corinto with 7000 years old, we visited many caves, the elf's cave was one of them, why the name? well the people from there have some "legends" that an elf lived at this place and when he was out on lonely nights to the town... he always took a girl with him.... well... we didn't see him... lucky us, huh!!! ;D

Veleros

The veleros or veletas are traditional toys at artisanal towns, makes me remember when i was a little girl and went to zoo, my mommy always bought me a veleta, those are so simple toys but with their beautiful colours and play on a windy day, makes you really happy!! :D

Juayúa's town

Juayúa's town is located at western area of my country, It's famous because they always have a gastronomic festival, you can find all kind of food, and even "exotic ones", part of the atractions are this little "train" and the horses with such that kind of "carruajes". :) Would you like a ride?

Modern Origami

There are people that loves japanese arts, i'm one of them ;D some days ago, there was a modern origami expo, with works of Satoshi Kamiya and Masashi Tanaka, i think their work is really impressive, they are very talented!! hope you like them!! ;D

La Palma's town

La Palma is a famous colonial town located at the north part of my country, it is a poor town, but people are famous because their colourful artisanal work, even the electricity posts have some paintings.

I took this picture at the zoo of my city, you can be a little bit close to some animals.... well, i don't know if this cocodrile was saying "cheese" to camera with a smile ;) or maybe he wanted something for lunch!!! :D

Other atraction from Copán, is the view of guacamayas, this beautiful bird was at the archaeological site, they are all free!!! :D
